Who’s Behind the WowzaBox?

We’re Joshy and Georgina, best mates sinceour university days in Newcastle. We've been through thick and thin together—everything from late-night study (club) to starting our first restaurant, and now, launching a new business. We’ve always been so close that our family and friends see us as a brother-sister duo (not a couple! 😄).

From Passion to Profession: Over 10 Years of Culinary Mastery.

Our foodie journey started with a shared passion for discovering the best flavours in town. But when we couldn’t find our favourite tastes, we thought, “Why not create them ourselves?” So, after graduating, Joshy travelled back to China to study the art of Chinese cooking. This experience laid the foundation for opening our own Chinese restaurant in Newcastle, which quickly became a local favourite (according to our loyal customers!).

One of our biggest challenges in those early days was training local chefs to cook traditional dishes with the same authenticity and quality you’d find in the East. It wasn’t easy, but we found ways to streamline the process while maintaining top-notch flavours. Then it hit us—if we could simplify cooking for our chefs, why not do the same for home cooks?

And that’s how WowzaBox was born. We take care of the hard work in the kitchen so you can effortlessly enjoy cooking restaurant-quality meals at home. We bring authentic, chef-prepared meal kits straight to your door, with everything you need for a flavour-packed, hassle-free cooking experience.

Our Journey So Far

We kicked off WowzaBox in September 2022, and it’s been a whirlwind ever since. We’re thrilled with the response so far—we’ve already sold 200,000 meals! Earning a TrustPilot rating of 4.6 out of 5 has been the cherry on top. But this is just the beginning. Every day, we’re learning, growing, and adding more exciting dishes to our menu. In 2024, we secured our first round of external funding, which has allowed us to expand our offerings with even more authentic flavours from across East Asia—think Singapore, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and beyond. The journey’s just begun, and we’re so glad you’re along for the ride!
